About the YPM Scheme
The Young People’s Mentorship scheme aims to support young people in the Wansbeck area via a package of holistic support that helps them to identify and achieve personal goals linked to health & wellbeing, skills, and employment.
Each participant in the project works 1-to-1 with their Mentor to:
- Explore their wants, needs and aspirations
- Agree a support plan
- Take the first steps towards making their ambitions a reality.
The project will be delivered with flexibility to allow clients to attend sessions in person, or remotely via phone/video call. The plan for each client will involve a range of sessions that include; Personal Planning, 1-1 Counselling, Skills Workshops, Mock Interviews and supported job search, as well as the possibility for group sessions, guest speakers and referrals to help continue the client’s journey.
Cygnus’ office is in Ashington, but services may be delivered across different venues in the local area.
Who Is Eligible?
Residents within the Wansbeck area who are aged 16-24 and not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET), or are at risk of becoming NEET are able to take part in the scheme.
