World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

10 September 2025
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025. This is an important awareness day that has been held annually since 2003 in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides, with various activities around the world.

Suicide is a sensitive topic for many; it is estimated that there are more than 700,000 suicides per year, and we know that each suicide profoundly affects many more people. Suicide remains a critical global issue, affecting individuals and communities worldwide.

The ongoing theme for this annual event aims to changing the narrative on suicide. It's about shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support.

Suicide can affect every one of us. By raising awareness, reducing the stigma & encouraging action we can help to reduce the instances of suicide around the world.

At 8PM on #WSPD, join many around the world in lighting a candle to show your support for suicide prevention, to remember a loved one & for the survivors of suicide.
