World Mental Health Day 2024

10 October 2024
Today is World Mental Health Day 2024; a global event with the objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.

This specific them for 2024, set by the World Federation of Mental Health, is Workplace Mental Health with the aim to highlight the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.

Around the UK, it is estimated that 15% of workers have an existing mental health condition and it is ranked as the 5th most common reason for sickness or absence from the workplace.

There are many things that contribute to a mentally healthy workplace, from providing staff training on mental health to tackling discrimination and bullying. Importantly, a mentally healthy workplace supports open conversations about mental health.
