Today marks the start of 16 Days Of Activism; an international event created to end violence against women and girls.
The theme for this year is that there is No Excuse for online abuse. Online and digital spaces should empower women and girls. Yet every day, for millions of women and girls, the digital world has become a minefield of harassment, abuse, and control. Perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions; even when online.
November 25th also coincides with White Ribbon Day in the UK. White Ribbon also aims to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes. They work with men and boys to change long-established, and harmful, attitudes, systems and behaviours around rigid gender norms and masculinity that perpetuate inequality and violence.
