As this years 16 Days of Activism draws to a close, it is important to reflect on some of the facts and consider what can be done to improve in the future.
Violence against women & girls remains the most pervasive human rights violation around the world. More than 1 in 3 women experience gender-based violence during their lifetime.
UN Women and partners are working to support survivors, bring perpetrators to justice and end gender-based violence once and for all; they also highlight the programmes & initiatives making a difference in the lives of women and girls worldwide, through:
✔️Education,
✔️Advocacy
✔️Service provision and more
You can read more about how UN Women are working to achieve this here.
Please also remember that there is always support available to those who may have been impacted by any issues highlighted throughout this event.
"Do not be scared. Raise your voice and seek help. Even if it seems impossible, there is always a way out." This is the advice of Salma, a survivor of domestic violence from Lebanon to all women and girls. You can read Salma's full story here.
Violence against women is PREVENTABLE; we need to #PushForward to end it NOW.
